Bow Making

This 3 day Bow Making course will give you the skills and confidence to create your own flat bow from an Ash log.  You will also learn to make your own arrows and bow strings.

Our bow maker will guide you through the rough shaping with an axe,carving with draw knives, spokeshaves and planes; and finishing with rasps and scrapers.

He will help you to recognise where to remove wood and advise on how to handle any character in the wood.

The course commences 10 am Friday.  We aim to complete the bows early Sunday afternoon to allow you time to shoot your new pride and joy and receive some Archery tuition.

Bow making is physically demanding and requires commitment to complete your bow and arrows in 3 days.
